Aidan Baker of Nadja sweeps into London

God Don’t Like It – is proud to present a night of experimental music, soundtrack and shoegaze, headlined by Aidan Baker of ambient doom duo Nadja.
Baker has released near one hundred records, over the course of a decade, including his time spent as part of Nadja, various other musical adventures and his own solo works. As well as music Baker is also the author of several books of prose and poetry.
As main support is Simon Scott, ex Slowdive drummer (“Just for a day” LP/ “Souvlaki” LP/”5ep” EP) who not only runs KESH recording label from Cambridge, Scott has released works on Morr Music with Seavault as well as acting as sound designer for various short films, sound installations and television sound design, including Channel 4.
The Wire Magazine is quoted for saying “Scott is particularly adept at layering coolly shimmering guitars and dark churning currents of noise into something vast”. “A haunting aspect of ‘Navigare’ is how it seems to contain traces of tunes that stand out like half-forgotten relics of the past” (Dec’09).
And finally, the night begins with London based duo The Resonance Association. Comprising of Daniel Vincent and Dominic Hemy. the twosome combine dense atmospheric sounds against blistering industrial rhythms and emotive guitar solos.
Tickets are available here.
Date: 22nd September 2010
Venue: Corsica Studios, 4/5 Elephant St. London. SE17 1LB
Doors: 8pm
Cost: £6

Laura Catlow does a Radiohead
It's been a while since we've heard from Laura Catlow who we introduced you to back in May but her debut album, You Might Know My Friend, is now available on a Radiohead-esque 'pay what you like' deal.
Containing the singles 'Skin And Bone' and 'You're Looking Rough', You Might Know My Friend was produced in a 'live' fashion according to the singer with "everything as real as possible, no click track, doing guitar and vocals at the same time; it's pretty much acoustic and shows the kind of thing you would get from me at a live gig."
The album is available to download from lauracatlow.bandcamp.com and is available to preview, in full, for free to decide if you would want to download it and for how much you think it's worth.
