Molly MacLeod is an electric-folk combo based in Manchester and definitely worth a listen. Obvious comparisons can be made to the current crop wobbly-voiced beauties, but Molly MacLeod’s sound is earthier and richer. Think 'Zeppelin III' with Robert Plant morphed into two hypnotizing sirens and you get the idea.

Your Mourning Glory
It's not often that you can say the phrase 'female fronted rock band' and the word 'fresh' in the same sentence without provoking groans of dismay, but then it's not often that a band like Your Mourning Glory assaults your eardrums. They mix strong duel female vocals with some killer riffs and add a bit of screamo in for good measure resulting in one of the most exciting bands to come out of the London music scene in recent years. Listen to 'Trace The Cracks' and hear your disbelief wash away.

Hailing from South London, Gallows Humour are a four piece who clearly still believe that punk should be just that......proper punk. Having already established a healthy following in the South, it won't be long before this group are at the forefront of their scene.

They've actually been around a while, but it's time the rest of the world investigated the garage punk-pop stylings of Austin, Texas outfit The Murdocks. Catchier than a bout of man flu!

Absie
First impressions of Absie would have her as another Lily Allen/Kate Nash clone, but listen closer and you'll realise that she actually has talent and an ear for a quality song. Ignorant Poser is the pick of her tracks with fantastic lyrics which are given time to shine with a beautifully mellow acoustic guitar as the backing track. Her debut album cannot come quick enough for me.

Smoke Fairies
