Do your best Anne Robinson impression. "Who thinks Sander van Doorn is a DIY instrument?"

As trance mixes go, Godskitchen Pure Trance Anthems ain’t half bad. I suspect anything that begins with Reflekt’s 'Need To Feel Loved' - gorgeous, as if by accident - of trying to butter me up. It’s one of a number of instantly recognisable ‘old’ tunes here presented in new (or new-ish) mixes. (See also tracks by Fragma, Paul van Dyk and Fatboy Slim.) The trance-pop likes of 4 Strings’ 'Take Me Away' and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s 'Under The Water' are similarly easy on the ears, while Fred Baker and Pryda smoothly deliver euphoria without the aid of vocals.

Elsewhere, Sebastian Ingrosso takes the keyboard riff from MGMT’s 'Kids' for 'Kidsos', 'Poppiholla' finds Chicane buggering Sigur Ros’ 'Hoppipola' in a manner that could only please Robert Miles, and Tiesto remixes Bloc Party. Perhaps one for indie purists to avoid, but if you know your Sander van Doorn from your Ron van den Beuken, Godskitchen Pure Trance Anthems could be the soundtrack to an enjoyable lost four hours.
