It has been announced that rock legends U2 are to headline Glastonbury to mark the festival's 40th anniversary in 2010.

Festival organiser, Michael Eavis said "The 26-year-old rumour has finally come true. At last, the biggest band in the world are going to play the best festival in the world! Nothing could be better for our 40th anniversary party. And there are even more surprises in the pipeline..."

The Irish rockers are touring the US in 2010, but had dates free around the Glastonbury festival weekend, fuelling speculation and media reports that they would be appearing. Now we have official confirmation from the organisers themselves.
