Toronto 4-piece, Spiral Beach, bring their carnival-esque, Bollywood-influenced, multi-coloured take on modern pop, back to the UK with a one-off show on Tuesday 24th November 2009 at the Queen Of Hoxton on Curtain Road in East London.

Hailing from the thriving indie community in Toronto that have seen bands like Tokyo Police Club and Crystal Castles break out internationally, Spiral Beach have become synonymous with their fearless attitude towards performing live, successfully playing DIY shows at unusual venues including vaudeville theatres, art galleries, downtown parks and on the Toronto Islands.

Since releasing their self-titled debut album independently in Canada back in 2005, and the follow up Ball in 2007, the band's following has developed into a flourishing self-contained community that brings energy and enthusiasm to stage shows which often feature video projections, siren-lights and smoke machines. 2008 saw the band play at SXSW and release the limited-edition 7” EP Voodoo in the UK through Stimulus Records, which picked up key plays on Radio 1’s Zane Lowe show, was ‘Single Of The Week’ for BBC 6 Music’s Breakfast Show and even featured in the Robert Downey Jnr teen film Charlie Bartlett.

This year sees the Canadian and US release of Spiral Beach’s new album, The Only Really Thing, which perfectly captures the jubilant frenzy of the band, filling out the kaleidoscopic pop sound they had already developed with intricate arrangements and unconventional instrumentation, including metal chains and a cell phone.
