The Black and White Years, the Austin-based electro dance rock band who recently won five Austin Music Awards, including Best Band and Best Song, at this year’s South by Southwest Festival, have just announced an online remix promotion for their single ‘Power To Change”. The band is teaming up with www.mxp4.com to launch the remix contest and an interactive music platform.

The Black and White Years will make their UK debut at the Wireless Festival in London’s Hyde Park opening for Basement Jaxx (July 4) and KanYe West (July 5). Their eponymous debut album is produced by Talking Heads’ Jerry Harrison.

The Black and White Years online remix promotion offers fans the opportunity to engage with the band by giving them direct access to their music, allowing them to remix it with complete artistic freedom. Whether you are a singer, producer, or DJ, the promotion will allow entrants to make the track their own. Once participants enter their email addresses, they’ll automatically receive all the stems for "Power To Change" the single from the "The Black and White Years" album.

When the remixes are finished, they can be posted on the band’s website. Participants can vote on their favourite remix. One winner will be selected by The Black and White Years, the second by the fans. Both winners will have their remix posted on the MXP4 Black and White Years widget, along with the original and official remixes. Winners will also receive a merchandise pack with music, t-shirt, stickers and other surprises. The contest will run until July 28, 2009. Winners will be announced on July 30th.
